A driver from a cafe in Florida was praised for halting the traffic around the kitten until the police arrived for the rescue.
A policeman was going about his day when he received a call about an abandoned kitten that was spotted on a busy highway in Florida, USA. The policeman, who was stationed at the Alachua Police Department, acted promptly as he arrived on the scene and picked up the small kitten. As per the bodycam footage shared by the Alachua Police Department on Facebook, the kitten is so small that it fits in one palm of the police officer. One can also see fast cars driving past on the highway. If there was any delay in the rescue, the kitten might have been hit by the incoming traffic.
A driver from the local cafe, Mi Apa Latin Cafe, also stepped in with the cat’s rescue as he positioned his truck in such a way that provided a shield to the cat. In their Facebook post, the police department thanked the driver and wrote, “Thanks to the help of a Mi Apa Latin Cafe driver who used their truck to assist in stopping traffic, the kitten was safely removed from danger.” This heartwarming story doesn’t just end at the rescue. The cat was also adopted by one of the police dispatchers and welcomed into its forever home.
The Facebook post about this animal rescue and adoption has gotten a slew of encouraging comments. The Mi Apa Latin Cafe praised their driver for his quick thinking and wrote, “We have the best officers in Alachua and our drivers always know what the priority is.”
A Facebook user shared how their adopted cat was found in the middle of the traffic and wrote, “This makes me so happy! My kitten was rescued from the middle of 441 with traffic rolling over him. Good Samaritan neighbours rescued him and I adopted him from them. His name is Loki! Thank you, Officer Stanfield!”
Appreciating the policeman, a Facebook user wrote, “How sweet that officer was for rescuing the baby kitty. Oh that gray car came close to the officer too. Thank you God for protecting them both. And the trucker who stayed until the officer could rescue the kitty.”
Someone demanded action against those who abandoned the cat and wrote, “Whoever put that kitten on the highway should be found and thrown in jail. Charged with Animal cruelty, and showed no mercy. People who do that to defenceless animals are rotten to their core.”
