German Marco Reus made a spectacular MLS debut on Sunday in new side LA Galaxy’s 2-0 win over Atlanta United as the 35-year-old set a goal up before netting one himself in a memorable outing on American soil.
Reus, who was brought on after the hour mark, teed up teammate Ricky Puig for the opener before getting himself on the score sheet.
Reus was deployed on the right flank, where he dazzled fans with some trademark moves into the danger area.
Reus laid the ball perfectly off for the onrushing Puig for the former Barcelona man to thunder one into the top corner of the netting as LA went ahead with the screamer.
The German turned scored 8 minutes later as he put the ball into the net with his second attempt in the sequence to double his team’s lead after getting on the end of a rebound off the keeper.
Reus moved to American shores following an iconic stint in German football, which has made him a cult hero in the eyes of Borussia Dortmund fans. The classy winger spent over a decade at Signal Iduna Park and managed to clinch the DFB Pokal twice and the DFL Supercup during his storied career in yellow and black.
