Indian Rail Mumbai-Pune is all set to restore the Deccan Express special train from June 26. This train will run with European style Vistadome coach for the first time on this route. Vistadomes are European-style coaches that are equipped with advanced amenities such as wide glass windows, glass ceilings, observation lounges and retractable seats that can rotate up to 180 degrees for the passengers.
Sharing pictures of the new coach through his Twitter account, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal wrote: “Mumbai-Pune-Via Mumbai Vistadome: Enjoy the natural beauty of the Western Ghats with the first Vistadome coach on this route. Mumbai-Pune Deccan Express Special train with Vistadome coach is set to be restored on this route from 26 June 2021.
With the addition of this new coach, passengers on the Mumbai-Pune route can now enjoy scenic beauty and experience with nature while passing through Matheran Hill (near Neral), Songir Hill (near Palasdhari), Ulhas River (near Jambrung). can. Waterfalls, tunnels in the area of Ulhas Valley, Khandala, Lonavala, etc. and on the South East Ghat section.
The basic features of the coach include wide window panes and roof glass, rotatable seats and pushback chairs etc. Presently, Vistadome coach is running in Mumbai-Madgaon Jan Shatabdi Special train. Railways had tweeted the video of the Vistadome coach in February.

Booking has started at all PRS centers and Indian Railways website www.irctc.co.in. A Central Railway release said that only passengers with confirmed tickets will be allowed to board this special train. It has also advised passengers to follow all norms, SOPs related to COVID-19 on boarding, travel and destination.
The train will halt Dadar, Thane, Kalyan, Neral (only for train number 01007), Lonavala, Talegaon, Khadki and Shivaji Nagar.
The Mumbai-Pune Deccan Express Special train will consist of one Vistadome coach, three AC chair cars, 10 second class seating and one second class seating cum guard brake van.
Here are the details of Mumbai-Pune Deccan Express Special Train:
01007 Deccan Express Special will depart Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus at 07.00 hrs everyday from 26th June and arrive Pune at 11.05 hrs on the same day.
01008 Deccan Express will depart Pune at 15.15 hrs everyday from 26th June and arrive Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus at 19.05 hrs on the same day.
