David Warner was dismissed for 56 during Australia’s opening clash of the 2024 T20 World Cup.

A hilarious incident took place during the T20 World Cup 2024 fixture between Australia and Oman in Barbados on Wednesday.

Australia kicked off their world cup campaign at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown (Barbados) with a 39-run win.

Aussie opener David Warner scored a measured half-century, playing a vital role in setting up the total of 164/5. He was dismissed in the penultimate over for 56 by Oman pacer Kaleemullah.

However, while making his way to the dressing room, Warner started heading towards the Oman dressing room. He soon realised the error before changing his course.

A clip of the hilarious incident was shared by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Instagram.

The clip has invited some rib-tickling reactions from users.

“I thought he was going to wait for the bowler after that sendoff,” read a response.

“When he was going to wrong locker room commentators were laughing,” wrote another.

One Instagram user hilariously commented, “Oman management saved their chairs and water bottles.”

“Ageing like a fine wine,” commented a user.

Expressing his admiration for Warner, another user wrote, “It’s really hard to digest that this will be the last tournament Warner’s playing. We will miss you David Pushpa Warner.”

Warner was impressive during the match. He played a fine knock of 56 against Oman and with this, became Australia’s highest run scorer in the history of T20I cricket.

Warner surpassed former Australia captain Aaron Finch to become his country’s highest run-scorer in the format.

Having played 104 T20I matches so far, Warner has scored 3155 runs at an average of 33.92. His strike-rate in this format has been 141.92.

Warner has one century and 27 half centuries to his name.

Australia ended their innings against Oman at 164 at the loss of five wickets. Oman, during the run chase, were limited to 125/9.
