It all started on a tremendous note for young Yashasvi Jaiswal at the highest level as the 21-year-old prodigy continued to pick up where he left off in domestic cricket. After playing 15 dots, Jaiswal eventually hit a four, before slowly settling his innings on the opening day of the first Test. Jaiswal was unbeaten on 40 at stumps on the first day, before scoring the remaining 10 runs on the second morning of the Test match. Both the Indian openers were a bit cautious, however, with Jaiswal bringing up his fifty first as he kept his positive options open. Jaiswal was overjoyed to get his first milestone in international cricket and the entire dressing room went berserk.

Coach Rahul Dravid gave a standing ovation Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja And KS Bharat appreciated Jaiswal’s innings. After being conservative on the first morning of the second day, Jaiswal continued to play positively and eventually completed his maiden century as he became the 17th Indian batsman, the third Indian opener to score a century on Test debut and the third to do so in the West Indies.
