Just before the toss, Arjun received his debut cap from Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma in the team huddle

After warming the bench for the entire season, Arjun Tendulkar, son of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, made his debut for Mumbai Indians (MI) on Sunday. The left-handed all-rounder was handed his cap at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, where his father played his last international match in 2013.

Just before the toss, Arjun received his debut cap from Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma in the team huddle. Apart from Tendulkar, South African Dwayne Johnson also made his IPL debut against KKR on Sunday.

Meanwhile, a video was shared on the official Twitter handle of the Indian Premier League (IPL), in which Arjun and Duan can be seen taking the caps from the two legends of the teams.

“A special occasion. The moment Arjun Tendulkar received his @mipaltan cap from @ImRo45,” read the tweet.

Mumbai Indians won the toss against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and decided to bowl first. Regular captain Rohit Sharma has caught a stomach bug, and Suryakumar Yadav has stepped up to lead in his absence.

“Would love to bowl first, wicket looks dry. The ball comes on to the bat well later. Rohit is out, he has got an infection in his stomach. It’s time to perform well. We are going in with one change, Duane Jansen comes in, everything else the same,” said Sun at the toss.

It was good for KKR skipper Nitish Rana to lose the toss as the visitors wanted to bat first. KKR has fielded an unchanged playing XI for the game against the five-time champions.

“We were going to bat first anyway. Good mood in the dressing room, we need to improve our bowling. We are confident that we can chase 200-210. I think the ball can turn in the second innings. One player can’t win you a tournament, it’s a team sport. It’s good for us that everyone is scoring runs. We will aim to score around 180 runs on this wicket, we are playing with the same team,” said KKR skipper Nitish Rana.
