‘Wanted to venture into the field of a moral drama’ says ‘Jalsa’ director Suresh Triveni

new Delhi: After the light-hearted ‘Tumhari Sulu’, Suresh Triveni explores a redemption story with ‘Jalsa’, helmed by powerhouse actors Vidya Balan and Shefali Shah. Manav Drama received rave reviews and hit Amazon Prime Video as the film explored dilemma, fear, denial and manipulation like never before.

Described as “a highly engaging and captivating tale of struggle”, Jalsa follows the lives of a top-line journalist (Balan) and her cook, played by Shefali Shah. It was a story of strong characters, fearless mothers who all fall prey to an incident.

Talking about how the success of ‘Jalsa’ was different than before, Suresh Triveni says, “As mentioned in a review Jalsa is a film of many things, hence a success. It is a film of many things. Success is there. In such challenging times the tireless search of my producer, the blind faith of my phenomenal actors and my crew and many more. I experienced the raw power of Amazon Prime Video and its subscribers. I am not on social media and still the message Penetrating all the walls reached me.

He further added, “If the first phone call can be made at 6:30 am then I think work is done. Only one word. Humble.”

‘Jalsa’ had its global premiere on March 18, 2022 in India and on Amazon Prime Video in 240 countries and territories around the world.
