New Delhi: Akshay Kumar’s film ‘Rowdy Rathore’ has rocked the box office with its release. Despite receiving mixed reviews, the action comedy film managed to rock the cash registers. After ten years of entertaining the audience, the makers of the film are all set to come up with the sequel of ‘Rowdy Rathore’. Yes, you read that right!
The film’s writer KV Vijayendra Prasad confirmed the development while talking to Mid-Day. He told the leading daily that Sanjay Leela Bhansali had approached him to write the script of ‘Rowdy Rathore 2’, which is expected to be finished soon. For those unaware, ‘Rowdy Rathore’ was Bhansali’s first film as a producer in the action genre.

A source close to the film told Mid-Day that Sonakshi Sinha, who starred in the first installment, will continue to be a part of ‘Rowdy Rathore 2’. The report added that the sequel is expected to go on floors by the end of next year. Interestingly, the story will not start from where the first part ended. The report states that the makers are planning to start a new story for the sequel.
‘Rowdy Rathore’ was the Hindi remake of the Telugu hit ‘Vikramarkudu’, which was directed by SS Rajamouli. The film emerged as one of the highest grossing films of 2012.
While TV producers and channels are busy bringing out new seasons of iconic shows, filmmakers are also working on other installments of popular films. Bollywood superstar Salman Khan while addressing a press conference for ‘RRR’ confirmed that ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2’ is on the cards. Fans could not control their excitement after a video of the event went viral on social media.

Talking about Akshay Kumar, the ‘Sooryavanshi’ actor is gearing up for the release of ‘Atrangi Re’. The musical romantic drama co-starring Sara Ali Khan and Dhanush will premiere on Disney+ Hotstar on December 24, 2021. The much-awaited flick is directed by Aanand L Rai.
