VMC : Agency to hire manpower for VMC Peon | Vadodara News – Times of India

Vadodara: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation ,VMC) is facing acute shortage of peons, among other employees. It wants to outsource the services to a manpower agency.
There are around 100 vacancies of peons designated as constables in the civic body in VMC. According to the municipal body, currently about 30% of the total posts are vacant.
Earlier, the civic body used to recruit soldiers on humanitarian basis by giving jobs to its employees. But the state government had discontinued this policy in 2014. VMC also got some employees in these positions when it entered into a joint venture with the civic body’s gas project. GAIL GAS, The peons were working in the civic body with the project.
Earlier, when octroi was discontinued by the state government, the peons working in the octroi department were transferred elsewhere. Barring two peons from the octroi and gas departments as well as recruitment on humanitarian grounds till 2011, the civic body has not recruited peons in over a decade.
In the proposal placed before the standing committee of the municipal body, it has been demanded that the work should now be outsourced. This would mean that an agency would now supply peons to the municipal body. Earlier such outsourcing of drivers has also happened. news network
