VK Sasikala says she wants to take AIADMK forward like MGR and Amma

Chennai (Tamil Nadu): Former AIADMK leader VK Sasikala on Tuesday said she wishes to take the party forward, as did MGR and Amma (Jayalalithaa). Sasikala said, “I wish the way our leader (MGR) and Amma (Jayalalithaa) took the party forward. Our workers know this very well. Not only this, there should be a leader who is truthful and He/she should not speak different things in past and present so that they can do good work for the people of Tamil Nadu.”

When asked when she would join AIADMK, she said. “I am the general secretary of AIADMK and will visit (party headquarters) when the time comes. Asked whether the party needs a leader or not, she said, it will be decided by the party workers.

Sasikala said, “I say time and again that the will of its workers is the final decision. I want the same.” Talking about the general council meeting convened by Edappadi K Palaniswami’s supporters on July 11 to elect him as interim general secretary, he said, “What is happening now is not a general council. ”

Reflecting on whether Edappadi K Palaniswami was trying to cover up the Kodanadu (robbery and murder case) issue by raising a single leadership issue, he said, “I am not aware of it. The current CM ( MK Stalin) did two things at the time of election. One of them was the issue of Kodnad (robbery and murder). He spoke on every street and promised that once (DMK) comes to power, he will take action on the Kodanad issue. Media should ask TN CM MK Stalin why he has not taken action till now.”

Earlier on 23 June, a meeting was held amid the chaos and the AIADMK General Council announced that the sole demand of the General Council members was to bring in a system of single leadership for the party in favor of the Joint Coordinator EPS. The on-going tussle between Edappadi K Palaniswami and O Panneerselvam resulted in the candidates contesting as independents in the local body by-elections on July 9.
