Veteran India opener Virender Sehwag is an upbeat and cheerful character on social media. Sehwag is known for his sarcastic and humorous take on various incidents in the cricket world. The former cricketer often makes headlines for his amazing and out-of-the-box tweets on Twitter.
Something similar happened on Tuesday, 3 August when the cricket superstar left the fans bewildered by leaking his phone number. Stars and other notable personalities remain mostly secretive about their personal information. However, Sehwag created a stir on social media by revealing his mobile number to his 22 million followers on Twitter.
Sehwag admitted that he dropped his phone in the shower and thus people should call his alternate number to contact him. “Dropped my phone in the shower, get it fixed and call me on 9112083319,” Sehwag tweeted.

Soon after Sehwag’s post went viral, many cricket fans argued that the cricketer’s phone number had been hacked. However, as the tweet was not taken down from his official Twitter handle, some cricket fanatics tried calling the given number to check its authenticity. The shocking thing here is that some fans’ calls were connected and they were asked to leave their message for the cricketer.
Also, Truecaller showed Sehwag’s name. The whole thing left fans confused whether it was some kind of prank or a marketing gimmick. Within a few hours, many cricket fans were able to conclude that it was a new and unique marketing strategy by the cricketer to grab the attention of the people.

The Nawab of Najafgarh also received a lot of appreciation from many cricket fans for coming up with a different marketing strategy. However, Sehwag is yet to reveal the full story behind giving the phone number on his Twitter handle.
