Virat Kohli has led RCB in 132 matches, winning 60 with defeats in 65.

Under Sachin’s captaincy, India could win only 23 out of 73 ODIs. In test matches, India won only 4 out of 25 matches.

Virat Kohli has announced that he will step down as the captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the end of this season of the Indian Premier League. The announcement comes days after Kohli announced to step down India’s T20I captaincy after the T20 World Cup this year. In many ways it reminds of the way Sachin Tendulkar Left the captaincy to focus more on his game. Though Kohli talked about managing his workload in all three formats, the lack of title as RCB captain could be one of the major reasons behind the decision.

Virat Kohli has led RCB in 132 matches, winning 60 while losing 65. 3 matches ended in a draw. He remains the highest run-scorer in the league, but even his individual brilliance did not help RCB win the IPL title. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma, who has been drafted to take over the T20I captaincy after Kohli steps down, has led Mumbai Indians to 5 IPL titles.

Kohli has also been in excellent form in T20 International cricket and is the only batsman to score more than 3000 runs in this format. He has led India in 45 matches, winning 27 and losing 14 games. He will lead India in the T20 World Cup for the first time. This season could give him a chance to bow down to a higher level as a captain both with RCB and the Indian team as well.

If we talk about Sachin Tendulkar, the right-handed batsman is probably the greatest player on the cricket field. However, under his captaincy, the Indian team never tasted much success. He became captain for the first time in August 1996 but had to step down in December 1997. He was given the responsibility again in August 1999, but the team’s poor performance soon led to him relinquishing the responsibility.

Under Sachin’s captaincy, India could win only 23 out of 73 ODIs. In Test matches, India won only 4 out of 25 matches and tasted defeat in 9 matches.
