Virat Kohli And Rohit Sharma To Play In T20I Series Vs Afghanistan: Reports

The Indian cricket team is geared up to take on Afghanistan in a three-match T20I series starting on January 11 at Mohali in Punjab. The selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar, along with SS Das and Salil Ankola, is said to be ready to finalize the squad.

This series marks India’s last T20I engagement ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup scheduled to commence on June 1 in the USA and West Indies.

The big team talk which is circling the internet is that both Team India star batters Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will be included in the squad for the T20I series against Afghanistan.

According to reports, both batters are willing to play T20 internationals and will feature for the Men in Blue from January 11.

With the series being the final T20 project before the T20 World Cup 2024, it will be interesting to see whether both of them are included in the squad for the quadrennial event or not.

Rinku’s Inclusion A Possibility

With youngster Rinku Singh among the options for selection as well, the 26-year-old finisher has a good chance to feature in the tournament as well.

Rinku Singh has impressed in his recent T20 appearances against Australia and South Africa, showcasing his finishing abilities especially in the death overs.

However, with Team India selectors having a selection dilemma in their hands, the team could possibly see some surprises in store for the fans and pundits.

The T20 World Cup 2024 will be co-hosted by the United States of America and West Indies with Team India playing all of their group stage matches in USA.
