Late on Wednesday, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa issued a message to the country. Said- The new Prime Minister and cabinet will take oath this week. The people of the country have to maintain peace. Violence will not be tolerated at any cost. People should refrain from spreading hatred.

President’s important announcement
The President made a very important announcement and it clearly means that politically, the Rajapaksa family has laid down arms in front of the public’s anger. Gotabaya said- I will give the right to the Parliament to amend the 19th Article of the Constitution. This article technically gives dictator-like powers to the President and there have been many controversies about it, but due to the political influence of the Rajapaksa family, he kept doing it arbitrarily.
