The Shakthi Matriculation Higher Secondary School and Shakthi ECR International School in Kallakurichi reopened for physical classes on Monday after remaining closed for 145 days.

The Madras High Court had allowed the resumption of physical classes in the school for classes 9 to 12.

A joint inspection committee constituted by the Government of Tamil Nadu had carried out a detailed inspection of the school and its premises and given a green signal for its reopening.

The district administration had given permission to restart the school on the ground floor, first and second floor of the block except the third floor.

Permission has not been granted for Block B while it is ready to accommodate students. Blocks C and D are still unfit for work and are under repair.

Kallakurichi District Collector told media persons that security arrangements have been made ahead of the reopening on Monday.
