Though Kohli could not contribute much with the bat, he had a good day in the field as he took a brilliant one-handed catch to dismiss Shakib Al Hasan.

1st ODI between India And Bangladesh was a heated affair as both the teams fought tooth and nail at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. The match developed into a battle of nerves in the second innings as Bangladesh’s batsmen struggled against India’s disciplined bowling attack. The match may not have gone in India’s favor but it saw the return of vintage and pace Virat Kohli In area. Kohli had a heated argument with Mushfiqur Rahim of Bangladesh. The incident happened in the 29th over of Bangladesh’s innings when Rahim played to cover a delivery from Shardul Thakur.

Kohli swoops down on the ball and aims the throw at the stumps. But Rahim, who was well inside his crease, countered by shrugging off Kohli and daring him to execute the throw onto the stumps.

Though Kohli could not contribute much with the bat, he had a good day in the field as he took a brilliant one-handed catch to dismiss Shakib Al Hasan. India’s star batsman showed tremendous athleticism to take the catch by diving to his left.

After Bangladesh won the toss and fielded first, India were bundled out for a total of 186 runs. Apart from KL Rahul, most of the batsmen were seen struggling on the challenging pitch of Dhaka. Rahul’s 70-ball 73 helped India reach a small but competitive total. The hosts chased down the target and got off to a poor start when Nazmul Hossain Shanto was dismissed on the very first ball of the innings. Although captain Liton Das steadied the ship with a 63-ball 41, Bangladesh lost wickets at regular intervals.

In a low-scoring potboiler, Bangladesh slumped from 128 for 4 to 136 for 9 and it was looking like Team India would win the game. However, Mehdi Hasan Miraj and Mustafizur Rahman had other ideas. They put on an astonishing 51-run partnership for the last wicket to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. Despite the defeat, India had some positives including disciplined bowling by the pacers. Mohammed Siraj emerged as the highest wicket-taker in the game for India as he scalped 3 wickets from his quota of ten overs.

Bangladesh have now taken a 1-0 lead and will be aiming to seal an improbable series win against India in the second ODI on December 7.
