Villupuram: A masked man brutally murdered a woman and her daughter by attacking a log-in. Villupuram District, was arrested within 24 hours of the crime. The arrested person has been identified as G Kavidas, 30, of Tiruvannanallur in the district.

The SP said that the accused confessed to raping two women in a village near Tiruppapuliyur in Cuddalore district in January this year. The matter was not known till his confession.
“His confession was confirmed through the tower location of his mobile phone,” Srinath said.
The SP appreciated the special team led by Sub Inspector R Prabhu, who was on special duty, for nabbing the accused within 24 hours of the crime. A team of police took the accused to the spot to explain to him how he did it double murder,
Kavidas broke into the house of 80-year-old widow D Saroja, living with her divorced daughter T Poongavanam, 60, by breaking the main door of her house at Kandappachawadi village near Kandamangalam in the district in the early hours of Tuesday.
He tried to rape two women. When they raised an alarm, he attacked them mercilessly with sticks, causing serious head injuries. Both the women died on the spot.
Four sovereigns stole gold ornaments from them and fled.
Kavidas attacked a couple working in a brick kiln in a nearby village. He tried to hug the woman. Her husband and the woman raised an alarm and attacked the couple mercilessly and fled from the spot.
