Tamil actor Vikram was hospitalized in Chennai last Friday, hours before the teaser launch of his much-awaited period drama Ponniyin Selvan: I. Soon there were rumors that he had suffered a cardiac arrest. Vikram’s manager Suryanarayan M rubbished the claim as well as the hospital authorities. The actor made his first appearance after the incident on Monday and gave a health update to fans.
As per the PTI report, he assured that he had ‘mild chest discomfort’ for which he visited the hospital. “There was a slight discomfort in the chest. I went to the hospital for the same. But it was blown out of proportion. I am doing well… when you all are with me nothing will happen to me. My family, friends, fans and you are there for me,” Vikram said at the audio launch of his upcoming Tamil film Cobra on Monday evening.
He took a dig at a certain section of the media, who wrongly claimed that he had suffered a heart attack. He said that there was a lot of misinformation about his health and he noticed that some people tried to change their face in a patient’s picture to create more frenzy and concern about his health.
“I shouldn’t put my hand on my chest. They (media) can claim that I am having a heart attack. I can imagine the title they might choose for tomorrow’s edition. They can say that what he had predicted was confirmed by Vikram. They can say that when Cobra was on stage for the audio launch, Vikram had indicated that he had suffered a heart attack,” he said. He scoffed at how his usual chest pain turned into a whole nexus of misinformation, causing a lot of trouble to his fans.
Cobra is one of Vikram’s upcoming films. It is directed by Ajay Gyanmuthu and composed by AR Rahman. The film, which is slated to release in August, also stars Srinidhi Shetty, Mia George, Roshan Mathew and Irfan Pathan, who is making his feature film debut.
