Young Indian shooter Vijayveer Sidhu moved to Chandigarh with his family at a young age. The Punjab-born sport shooter started practicing the game at the age of eleven. Sidhu underwent professional training under his coach D. S. Chandel. Sidhu featured at the 19th Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China in 2023 and won a Bronze medal in the men’s 25 m rapid-fire pistol team event, along with Anish Bhanwala and Adarsh Singh.
It was also India’s first-ever medal in this event at the Asiad. His brother, Udhayveer Sidhu (shooting), also represents India at international level. The twin brothers had earned a silver medal in the men’s 25m rapid-fire pistol team, along with Adarsh Singh, at the World University Games Summer in Chengdu, People’s Republic of China last year.

Paris Olympics Qualification
Vijayveer Sidhu earned a Paris 2024 Olympic quota in the men’s 25m rapid-fire pistol event after making the final of the Asian Shooting Championships meet, held in Jakarta, Indonesia earlier this year in January. This marked India’s 17th quota in shooting for the Olympics 2024 and the second in the men’s 25m rapid-fire pistol event. Sidhu registered a fifth-place finish in qualifying with a score of 577.
Recent Performances
In one of his recent appearances, Vijayveer Sidhu won the fourth and final Olympic Selection Trial (OST) in 25m pistol events earlier this year in May. He had shot 34 in the decider of the men’s 25m rapid-fire pistol OST T4 to clinch a win.
