Vijay Rupani became the fourth BJP leader to resign as CM in recent weeks. check the other two

A year before the elections in Gujarat, Vijay Rupani on Saturday resigned as the Chief Minister of Gujarat. Elections are to be held in December 2022 to elect 182 members of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly. The 65-year-old BJP leader was sworn in as chief minister for the second time in December 2017.

He said, ‘I have resigned from the post of Chief Minister of Gujarat. I was given a chance to serve the state for five years. After meeting Governor Acharya Devvrat and submitting his resignation, Rupani told reporters, “Whatever my party says I will do.”

In recent months, three chief ministers of two BJP-led states have also resigned from their posts, triggering a major political crisis in the party. Here it is about them:

Karnataka

BJP leader BS Yediyurappa resigned as Chief Minister of Karnataka on 26 July, the day his government completed its two years. A day later, the party elected Basavaraj S Bommai as the new Chief Minister of Karnataka.

BJP observer for Karnataka and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had announced that Basavaraj S Bommai would be the next Chief Minister of Karnataka.

The 61-year-old leader is the son of former Karnataka CM SR Bommai.

Uttarakhand

Barely four months after taking over as the head of state, Tirath Singh Rawat submitted his resignation as Chief Minister of Uttarakhand on 2 July. In a surprise move, he reached the Governor’s House around 11 am and submitted his resignation letter.

Rawat’s sudden but expected move plunged the state into a major political crisis it had seen a few months back. In March this year, after resentment against former Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, a then MP Tirath Singh Rawat was sworn in as Chief Minister.

Later Pushkar Singh Dhami was declared the 11th Chief Minister of Uttarakhand.
