A car was washed away in the strong current of Chaupet river in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna on Saturday. The river was in spate due to the opening of the Gopisagar Dam gate in Ruthiya town. The car driver tried to cross the bridge despite the strong current of water. Luckily the driver got out of the car in time. After this the car got swept away from the bridge and went into the river. A video of this incident has also surfaced.

The incident happened around 12 noon on Saturday. The gates of Gopisagar Dam have been opened after heavy rain on Friday night. Due to this a lot of water has come in the Chaupet river. Water started flowing at high speed over the bridge on the road connecting Ruthiya with Vijaypur.

Meanwhile, a car driver started going to the other side. He was the only one in the car. However, he soon realized that the car would not be able to go ahead and put himself in danger while trying to cross the river. So he got out of the car. Within no time the car got swept away in the water and fell under the bridge. Some people first tried to pull the car out of the rope, but could not. After this the police reached the spot.

There is a possibility of heavy rain in Madhya Pradesh on the day of Raksha Bandhan. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rains may occur in some parts of Dhar, Ratlam, Ujjain and Dewas districts. There will also be heavy rains in 13 districts including Sheopur and Morena. There will be drizzle at many places in Indore, Bhopal, Gwalior and Chambal.

Home guards have been deployed here so that people cannot go near the river. Traffic has been stopped due to water coming on the small bridge over Shipra river. Both the roads leading to Badnagar road have been closed by putting up barricades.
