Vidarbha: Four Delta Plus cases found in Chanda, Gondia and Akola. Nagpur News – Times of India

Nagpur: Genome sequencing of samples COVID-19 patients have disclosed 20 more delta plus type patient Maharashtra on Wednesday. Of these, 2 are from Gondia and one each from Akola and Chandrapur. This marks the entry of the Delta Plus version Vidarbha.

Experts told TOI, there is ample evidence that the Delta Plus variant is not as dangerous as the original Delta variant, which was prominent in the second wave in Vidarbha.

“It has also been proved in Maharashtra that the level of infection in patients with Delta Plus variant is mild to moderate and not severe. More such forms will continue to emerge,” said infectious disease specialist Dr Nitin Shinde.
Public Health Department has appealed to the public to adopt covid-appropriate behavior without any fear virus continues to change its genetic form and is part of the natural life cycle of the virus. Rapid vaccination is also effective in controlling further mutations in the virus. If the virus does not get a chance to multiply, the chances of new mutations will also decrease, it said.
Another relief for Vidarbha is that the samples that tested positive for the delta-plus variant were detected at least 2 weeks ago and only then sent for testing. The fact that no spike or death was observed during the last two weeks indicates that Delta-Plus poses no serious threat to the sector.
Meanwhile, relief from COVID-19 continued in the region on Wednesday as only 31 out of 15,560 samples tested positive in 24 hours. The overall test positivity rate (TPR) hit a record low of 0.19%. Bhandara and Gondia reported zero new cases, while the day’s highest – six – were reported from Buldhana. At the same time, 52 patients have been cured. The recovery rate of Vidarbha is above 98 percent.
For the second consecutive day and for the fifth time in 11 days of August, no Covid death was reported. This indicates that the deaths due to COVID-19 have come down significantly. Currently, only 449 patients are being treated in the entire region.
Bhandara: Another ‘Zero Day’ was observed in the district as no new cases were reported out of 616 tests conducted in the last 24 hours. Bhandara had no patient for another day.
Gondia: No new case has been reported out of 394 tests and 1 recovery conducted in Gondia on Wednesday. Now, 2 patients are undergoing treatment, out of which 1 is in home isolation and 1 is under observation at Kovid Hospital.
Wardha: Out of 436 test reports, a new Kovid patient has appeared in Deoli on Wednesday, taking the total number of cases to 49,382. After the discharge of two patients, the total number of recoveries has increased to 48,049, of which 8 are under treatment. There were no deaths during the day and the Covid toll stood at 1,325.
Chandrapur: There were no casualties due to corona virus for the second consecutive day on Wednesday, leaving the death toll unchanged at 1,537. With two new ones against three recovering, now 72 patients are under treatment. The Covid caseload rose to 88,550, while the total recoveries rose to 86,941.
Amravati: Four new cases against seven recoveries meant the district was quite ‘Covid free’ on Wednesday. The caseload has now reached 96,589 and has recovered to 94,598. With no Covid deaths reported during the day, the toll stood at 1,562. Out of this, 69 are undergoing treatment.
Yavatmal: On Wednesday, 3 new cases and 2 were cured in the district. No Kovid casualty has been reported in the last 24 hours.
Gadchiroli: Five new cases in Gadchiroli and after recovery, the total caseload increased to 30,647 and after recovery to 29,864. Overall the Covid toll is 745 and 38 are under treatment.
Washim: Two new cases were reported in the day and 5 got cured. With 41,030 patients out of the total 41,680 cured so far, 12 patients are now undergoing treatment in Washim.
Buldhana: The district conducted 2,507 tests in the last 24 hours and six of them were positive. Eight patients were cured in the day. Now 61 patients are being treated in Buldhana.
Akola: A total of 758 tests were conducted in Akola on Wednesday, out of which 3 came positive. With 5 patients recovering a day, 47 patients are being treated here.
