Vicky Kaushal’s Sardar Udham to release OTT in October, actor announces with new poster

Vicky Kaushal’s upcoming war biopic Sardar Udham, based on the life of revolutionary Sardar Udham Singh, will have an OTT release announced by the actor on Thursday evening. Taking to his Instagram account, he shared a poster of the film and revealed that the film will release on streaming giant Amazon Prime Video in October this year. He wrote, “My heart is filled with love as we bring you the story of a revolutionary.

Though the actor did not mention the date, it is being speculated that the film will release on Dussehra on October 15 and will clash with the OTT release of Taapsee Pannu’s Rashami Rocket. As per a source, “Rashmi Rocket will release on ZEE5 on the day of Dussehra, the same day as Vicky Kaushal’s Sardar Udham Singh, which is scheduled to premiere directly on Amazon Prime Video during the same weekend. The tentative release date of both the films is October 15.”

The film was earlier slated for a theatrical release but got delayed due to the ongoing pandemic.

Directed by Shoojit Sircar, the film also stars Banita Sandhu and Amol Parashar, who will play the role of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh. Vicky Kaushal will play the titular role in the biopic on Singh, the revolutionary who assassinated Michael O’Dwyer, the former Lieutenant Governor of Punjab in British India in 1940, to avenge the Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 1919.

Apart from this, the actor has a few projects lined up. After getting permission to shoot once again, the actor begins his upcoming comedy with Manushi Chhillar, tentatively titled The Great Indian Family.

For the past few months, Vicky has been training to get fit for his lead role in The Immortal Ashwatthama. But now, the film has been put on hold due to the ongoing pandemic and budget constraints. The actor also has another biopic, Sam Bahadur. He will be reuniting with Kiara Advani in Shashank Khaitan’s Mr. Lele.
