Legendary singer Vani Jayaram passed away on February 4 at the age of 78. She was found dead at her Chennai residence on Saturday. His death sent shockwaves through the music industry. According to reports, she apparently fell and suffered a forehead injury at her residence in Nungambakkam, Haddocks Road, Chennai. The cause of death has not yet been determined. The legendary singer was cremated with full state honors on Sunday, February 5.

The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, MK Stalin, visited the singer’s residence to pay his last respects. He also shared a tweet expressing condolences. He was cremated with full state honors on Sunday.

On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also condoled the death of the singer. His tweet read, “The genius Vani Jairam ji will be remembered for his melodious voice and rich body of work that covered diverse languages ​​and reflected varied emotions. His demise is a great loss to the creative world. His family And condolences to the fans. Om. Shanti.”

Jayaram broke onto the music scene with the song Bole Re Papihara, Jaya Bachchan’s debut as a leading lady in the 1971 film Guddi. He has done playback for over a thousand Indian films.

She has recorded over 10,000 songs in languages ​​such as Kannada, Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi and Bengali. For 2023, the President has approved the conferment of 106 Padma Awards, and Jairam was one of the recipients. The Padma Awards are presented by the President at formal functions usually held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan around March or April every year. Unfortunately, Jayaram has passed away before he could receive the honour.
