Veteran singer Edwa Bashir collapses on stage during live concert, dies; funeral will be held today

Noted Malayalam playback singer Edva Basheer, 78, passed away on Saturday while performing on stage. His funeral will take place today, May 29 at 3 pm at Kadapakkada Juma Masjid Kabarishthan, Basheer was performing at an event organized by the Blue Diamond Orchestra, where he was singing a Hindi song ‘Mano Ho Thum’ and suddenly collapsed on the stage. Went. He has been a part of the orchestra for a long time. He was taken to a private hospital in Cherthala but died.

The ceremony was at Pathirpally in Kollam district.

The veteran singer has been in the limelight since his school days as he has won several awards and accolades for his music. He shot to fame and founded a music troupe ‘Sangitalaya’ at Varkala in Thiruvananthapuram district, which was inaugurated by KJ Yesudas, one of Malayalam’s most eminent singers.

Basheer was a regular in all temple ceremonies throughout Kerala and his song “Akasarupini, Annapurneshwari” in praise of Goddess Durga is one of the songs that was in high demand by the listeners during his public events. He had traveled around the world with his music and performed in the United States, United Kingdom, European countries, Middle Eastern countries and Far Eastern countries.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Leader of Opposition VD Satheshan condoled the death of Edva Basheer. Playback singer KS Chitra also paid tribute to the late singer.
