Veena Reddy sworn in as first Indian-American USAID mission director – Times of India

Washington: U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) on Monday (local time) announced Veena Reddy as the first Indian-American to become the mission director.
“Today, Veena Reddy is sworn in as our new mission director. She will be the first Indian-American to lead USAID-India, which represents the best of both countries, and leverage her unique experiences to lead US-India Aims to strengthen our development partnership and leadership,” USAID tweeted.
“Greetings, Veena USAID-India. The India-USAID partnership has the potential to make a difference in the lives of people not only in India and the US, but around the world!” India’s Ambassador to the United States of America, Taranjit Singh Sandhu tweeted.
Veena Reddy, Foreign Service Officer of the US Agency for International Development, is the Mission Director of USAID/Cambodia.
She arrived in Cambodia in August 2017 and currently oversees 75 as well as USAID programs in the areas of food security, the environment, health, education, child protection, and democracy and governance.
He has served as Deputy Mission Director in Haiti, where he oversaw post-earthquake reconstruction efforts, election support, economic development, food security interventions, hurricane response, and the development of a new strategy.
Prior to this posting, he served in Washington as Assistant General Counsel, covering legal matters for Asia, the Middle East, and USAID’s programs in Afghanistan and Pakistan. He has also served in USAID missions in Pakistan, the Central Asian Republics and Central America.
Prior to her government service, Reddy was a corporate attorney at Rogers & Wells in New York and Akin Gump at Strauss Hauer & Feld in London and Los Angeles.
Reddy holds a Juris Doctorate (JD) from Columbia University School of Law and M.A and from BA University of Chicago. She is a member of the New York and California Bar.
