Vardhan Puri disagrees with Salman Khan over OTT censorship.

Vardhan Puri does not agree with Salman Khan’s views on censoring content on OTT platforms.

Salman Khan in his recent press meet shared his views on several topics, one of which is OTT and censorship. The actor had expressed that the platform should be put under scrutiny for obscenity, nudity and abusive language. Now Amrish Puri’s son Vardhan Puri has come forward to oppose it. The actor believes that censorship can majorly hinder one’s creativity to express freely on OTT platforms.

In an interview with India Today, Vardhan Puri explained, “I respect everyone’s opinion. I personally beg to differ. I think creativity is dead if there is any censorship. I am against censorship. I believe in certification, guidelines can be given, labels can be made. But as adults, everyone should have the power to choose what they want to watch. I am not in favor of any kind of censorship, especially on OTT.

He also said, “Certification is fine, but cutting some parts because of language or nudity or obscenity doesn’t make sense to me. Regulation is fine, but censorship is not. You have to control who is able to view the content as there are minors who consume such content. But, for people to decide what’s okay for them to watch, I think, is ridiculous.

for the uninitiated, Salman Khan Said,

“I don’t believe in this kind of content. I mean I have been here since 1989 and I have not done anything like this, so I think OTT should be censored and all this obscenity, nudity, abuse- Bullying should be stopped.

Salman Khan pointed out that content is now easily available on phones and hence one should keep an eye on it. The actor further asked the media whether they would like it if a 15-16 year old boy or girl sees derogatory or obscene content on the phone.

Meanwhile, Vardhan Puri has been a part of projects like Daawat-e-Ishq, Shuddh Desi Romance and Ishaqzaade as an assistant director. On top of that, he started his acting career with Yeh Saali Aashiqui, where he starred opposite Shivaleeka Oberoi. The romantic thriller was directed by Chirag Ruparel.
