Vaani Kapoor is climbing the ladder of success in Bollywood. She made her acting debut with Shuddh Desi Romance which also starred late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Her last film Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, in which she played the role of a transwoman opposite Ayushmann Khurrana, was also very successful at the box office. Vaani’s role was appreciated by the audience as well as the film critics.
The War actress is now looking for more challenging roles that will prove her craft. as reported by Bollywood Hungama, Vaani has now signed a social-comedy drama film titled Sarvagun Sampanna under the banner of Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films.
Reportedly, it will be a female-centric film in which Vaani Kapoor will play a lookalike porn star in the 90s. An industry source associated with the publication site said, “Dinesh Vijan is making a high-concept, progressive film about a small-town girl who looks like a popular porn star. It is a special project which brings out a very important message while entertaining the audience with its quirky story. Vani portrays the character of a strong, courageous, dignified woman who is fighting for her integrity and exposes the lousy mindset of the Indian patriarchal society.”
Sarvagun Sampanna will be Shonali Ratan’s directorial debut. Shonali has previously assisted her husband and filmmaker Kunal Deshmukh in films like Jannat, Tum Mile, Raja Natwarlal and Shiddat. She has also worked in Goldie Behl’s Zee5 series, Mithya.
Reportedly, the film Sarvagun Sampanna is already in pre-production and is said to go into production mode within a few months. The film will also mark the Befikre actress’ debut as a solo lead since her debut in 2013.
Apart from Sarvagun Sampanna, Vaani Kapoor’s much-awaited yet awaited period action drama Shamshera is slated to hit the theaters on July 22. Directed by Karan Malhotra, the film will see Vaani portray Ranbir Kapoor’s love interest and Sanjay Dutt will play the role. of an antagonist. Produced under the banner of Yash Raj Films, the film tells the story of a dacoit tribe and their freedom struggle during the British rule.
