Vaani Kapoor: My character is not meant to be used just as a prop in Shamshera. Specific

Vaani Kapoor has praised director Karan Malhotra for writing and visualizing his character in Shamshera so well. He says that the audience will see him from a completely different perspective. Yash Raj Films production Shamshera is a period action drama starring Ranbir Kapoor in dual roles of father and son. It also stars Sanjay Dutt.

Vaani, who recently earned critical acclaim for her performance in Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, says she feels fortunate to work with two great acting talents like Ranbir and Sanjay Dutt.

Elaborating on her involvement in Shamshera, Vaani tells us, “I have a lot of respect for Karan. I loved his film Agneepath. I understand his sensibility and aesthetics and I admire him. When he offered me the film, I saw what kind of arc he had for my character. He’s not there just to be used as a prop in the movie. Very little of it has been revealed in the trailer but once the film comes out, the audience will get to see a very different look and dimension of this character.”

“I have never been a part of such a cinematic experience before. Also, the fact that it stars Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt made it all the more exciting for me to be in the film. It is a dream cast and a great opportunity,” says Vaani.

Although Vaani made her acting debut in 2013 with Shuddh Desi Romance, she has done only a few films in the nearly 10 years of her film career. However, the actress says that she is quite happy and satisfied with the way her career has shaped up as she has no affiliation in the industry.

“There have been times when I’ve felt lost, especially when the kind of work you want to be a part of goes to someone else. You just wonder, ‘Why isn’t this coming to me? I can see myself doing it or maybe even better.’ But I can’t compare my career to anyone else’s or vice versa. It’s a gamble at the end of the day.”

Vaani further adds, “What I go with is my instinct and gut feeling and there are things that make me happy or sad as an actor. I don’t want to look back in life and be like, ‘Oh, I made that choice out of pressure, fear or insecurity, then I’ll stumble. It won’t satisfy me. I will definitely make more money by doing this and maybe be more popular and more viewed on different platforms if I do x number of movies but will all those movies work? What if people could wonder what disaster movies she was choosing for herself. These are all gambles that you take. So, whatever films have come my way as a person, I have tried to make the best and right choice for myself by staying true to myself. ,
