Uttarakhand Election 2022: Congress CEC meeting today, the list of candidates for the election will be finalized

New Delhi: Congress Party’s Central Election Committee (CEC) is scheduled to meet today at 4 pm via video conferencing to select candidates for the Uttarakhand Assembly Election 2022.

Despite Screening Committee discussions for almost a week, Congress is yet to announce its first list of candidates for Uttarakhand Assembly Election 2022.

The hill state will go to polls in a single phase on February 14 and the last date for nomination of candidates has been fixed as January 28.

Meanwhile, yesterday the BJP had released a list of 59 candidates for the upcoming elections. It was announced that Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami would contest from Khatima constituency, while former CM Trivendra Singh Rawat had offered not to contest. While India’s first CDS Gen. brother of Vijay Rawat Bipin Rawat Those who joined the party on Wednesday are expected to be included in the next list of candidates.

In the last assembly elections held in 2017, the Bharatiya Janata Party had won 57 of the 70 assembly seats.

Earlier on Wednesday, senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister of the state Harish Rawat said that any decision to take Harak Singh Rawat back in the party will be of the party leadership.

“I am not angry with anyone. It is for the Congress high command to decide whether Harak Singh Rawat will be included in the party or not. Whatever decision the Congress party takes, I will accept it. I am not in the capacity to decide whether Harak Singh Rawat will be included in the party or not. Singh Rawat should be included in the party or not,” he said as per the ANI report.

Harak Singh Rawat along with 9 other MLAs left the Congress and joined the BJP in 2016. Now once again, less than a month after the elections in the state, he wants to join the Congress, but the chairman of the party’s campaign committee for the elections, Harish Rawat, has not given any clear indication on it.
