Uttar Pradesh weather: Cold wave prevails in Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj; no respite today

Lucknow: The Meteorological Department said that a significant drop in temperature has been recorded in large parts of Uttar Pradesh in the last 24 hours, where severe cold wave conditions prevailed in most of the divisions. The Meteorological Center in Lucknow said on Tuesday that there was a severe cold wave with dense fog at many places.

The day temperatures in Gorakhpur, Ayodhya, Lucknow, Bareilly, Moradabad and Meerut divisions were significantly below normal while Kanpur, Varanasi, Jhansi, Agra and Prayagraj divisions recorded below normal temperatures during the last 24 hours.

The night temperature in Lucknow, Ayodhya, Prayagraj and Kanpur divisions also remained much below normal during this period.

Etawah was the coldest place in Uttar Pradesh during this period, recording a minimum temperature of 2.8 degree Celsius.

During this, the minimum temperature was recorded at 4 degree Celsius in Hardoi, 5.2 degree in Hamirpur and 5.5 degree in Muzaffarnagar, Ayodhya and Barabanki.

No respite is expected as dense fog and cold wave conditions will continue at many places in the next 24 hours, the Meteorological Department said.

Most parts of Uttar Pradesh are in the grip of severe cold since last one week.
