During a meeting held at the police headquarters on Wednesday night, Singh directed the officers to ensure compliance of COVID-19 protocols including social distancing and face cover as per the guidelines of the government.
Prohibition under Section 144 of CrPC has been imposed in view of the law and order situation in view of upcoming festivals like Gandhi Jayanti. Durga Puja, Eid-ul-Miladi, Valmiki Jayanti, it said.
“Detailed discussions were held on increasing police visibility in public places to prevent crime on the streets. The Commissioner of Police also directed the officers to intensify patrolling to check crimes against women,” the police statement said.
“He directed the officials to identify important public places where the deployment of personnel, including women, is to be increased, and directed them to go to the spot and check the vigilance of Dial 112 personnel,” he said.
Senior officers including Additional Commissioner (Law and Order) Luv Kumar, all DCPs and Additional DCPs, ACPs and station in-charges attended the meeting.
“The Commissioner of Police has directed all the concerned DCPs to hold a meeting with senior police officers of the adjoining districts to get the list of criminals who have committed incidents of robbery, snatching etc. and laid special emphasis on increasing the visibility of the police. Boundary of districts like Ghaziabad, Aligarh, Bulandshahr, Delhi and Palwal (Haryana),” it said.
Singh directed all officers to clear pending cases at the earliest by maintaining quality checks and cautioned against any laxity in public grievances.
Additional DCP (Law and Order) Shraddha Pandey said in the order extending the restrictions under Section 144 of CrPC that unauthorized protests, rallies and social gatherings will remain banned in view of the pandemic.
As per the order no public activities are allowed between 11 pm and 6 am except for essential services.
The order limited the crowd size for indoor wedding ceremonies to 100 and “no more than the size of the area” in open spaces, adding that shopping malls, restaurants can operate at a maximum crowd capacity of 50 per cent.
It said that public transport such as buses, metro and cabs will run at 50 per cent passenger capacity, while only two passengers are allowed in auto-rickshaws.
“Any violation will be subject to legal action under section 188 (disobedience of order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Indian Penal Code,” Pandey said.
