VARANASI: Acting on the viral video of a youth hitting a sub-inspector inside Sayyedaraja Police Station In ChandauliOn Friday, the police arrested Shailendra Pratap Singh, accused of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Nagar (Mughalsarai). An FIR was lodged against him on Thursday midnight.
On September 28, SI Jai Prakash Yadav and three constables, who came under the grip of the youth, were also suspended by the Chandauli SP during a fight with some Bharatiya Janata Party officials inside the Sayyadaraja police station. SP Amit Kumar said, “The conduct of these policemen was defamatory to the image of the police, so they were suspended. Further investigation is on in the matter.”
During this episode, in the presence of CO Anil Kumar Rai and BJP District President and other officials, high voltage drama took place overnight in Sayyidaraja police station, Shailendra beat up the SI and addressed him with casteist words.
ASP Chandauli Dayaram Saroj said that the accused Shailendra Pratap Singh has been arrested for beating the SI. An FIR was registered against him under sections 323, 332, 353, 504 and 506 of the IPC.
Rai said that prior to Shailendra’s arrest, an FIR was registered on September 28 against four suspended policemen under sections 323 and 307 of the IPC on the complaint of Madheshia, while on the complaint of SI Madheshia under sections 332, 353. Another FIR was registered. Section 504 and 506 of IPC.
He said that investigation is going on in all these cases.
