Uttar Pradesh MLC Polls: BJP announces names of candidates for MLC election, check list here

Lucknow: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President JP Nadda has approved the names of candidates to contest elections on five seats of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council. The BJP’s three candidates for graduate constituencies include Jai Pal Singh (Bareilly Moradabad); The constituencies of Arun Pathak (Kanpur-Unnao) and Devendra Pratap Singh (Gorakhpur-Faizabad) were announced on Monday (January 9).

The candidates for the two teachers’ constituencies include Venu Ranjan Bhadauria, who will be the party’s candidate for the Kanpur-Unnao teachers’ constituency and Babulal Tiwari for the Jhansi-Prayagraj constituency.

Significantly, there is not much time left in the Lok Sabha elections 2024 and the assembly elections are also just a few months away. This year is important from the point of view of elections.

Assembly elections are due in Madhya Pradesh, Tripura, Karnataka, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Rajasthan, Telangana and Chhattisgarh this year. In six out of these nine states, there are governments of the BJP and its allies. While Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh have Congress governments, Telangana is governed by the Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi (formerly Telangana Rashtra Samithi).

Nadda’s three-year term as party president ends at the end of this month. However, his tenure is being extended in view of the upcoming elections.
