According to reports, Dharmendra was living in the house of 43-year-old Santosh Kumar of Bhuda village of Gursahaiganj Kotwali police station area of ​​Kannauj for the last three years. He never spoke to anyone and pretended to be deaf and mute. He always used to communicate with the help of gestures.
At around 11:30 on Friday night, he suddenly started hitting Santosh with a wooden laundry paddle. When Santosh’s relative Pratap Singh got up after hearing his cries for help and tried to save Santosh, Dharmendra attacked him too.
Hearing their cries, the people of the house, neighbors and villagers rushed to the spot and admitted both the injured to a nearby private hospital. Doctors referred Santosh to Agra for treatment but he died on the way around 2 pm. Pratap was referred to Kanpur Nagar hospital.

The villagers told the police that the accused had come to Santosh Yadav’s place about three years ago. Santosh appointed him to look after the cattle and in return gave him food and clothes. “However, the young man never spoke and even pretended to be deaf. He used to communicate with them with the help of gestures,” he claimed.
Police said that after being thrashed by the villagers, he told them his name and also the name of his native village. However, the reason behind the murder is yet to be ascertained as he has not yet disclosed the reason to us.
SP Kannauj Prashant Verma said, ‘On the complaint of Santosh’s wife Gomti Devi, a case has been registered against the servant Dharmendra under relevant sections of the IPC. At present, investigators are interrogating the accused to ascertain the possible motive behind the crime.”
