Varanasi: A dreaded criminal and sharpshooter Deepak Verma, wanted in several murder cases and Forced ransomOn Monday afternoon, the STF shot dead in an encounter near Bariasanpur village of Cholapur police station area of the district.
A total of 23 cases of murder, robbery and other offenses were registered against Verma, on which the police had declared a reward of one lakh rupees. Verma was the sharpshooter of the slain mafia don love light Surname Munna Bajrangi, was absconding since 2015. He was involved in several sensational murders including the double murder Naini Central Jail Gate in Prayagraj.
According to STF, on receiving information about Verma’s presence in Bariasanpur village of Cholapur police station area, the team of STF Varanasi Field Unit under the leadership of Deputy SP Shailesh Singh and Inspector Amit Srivastava surrounded the road leading to the village. When Verma came out of the village on a motorcycle with a companion, the policemen surrounded him. After this, he opened indiscriminate fire on the policemen.
STF personnel brought the fire under control. Verma was shot and fell on the road, while his accomplice managed to escape. Police took the seriously injured Verma to SPG Divisional Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. Police have recovered a pistol, a revolver, live cartridges and a motorcycle from the spot.
Regarding Verma’s criminal history, the police said that a total of 26 criminal cases were registered against him in the police stations of Varanasi and Prayagraj, mostly of murder, robbery and extortion.
Verma, a native of Rampura Laksa area of Varanasi, became active in the world of crime in 2011 and was sent to jail by the police. He was absconding since 2015 after coming out of jail.
Police said, “In 2015, Verma had dumped Golu Yadav’s body after killing him,” the same year Verma killed Shiv Seth, a corporator of the Varanasi Municipal Corporation, while his involvement in the sensational double murder in 2016. Liked it Naini Jail Gate in Prayagraj. ”
