Lucknow: With over 5.2 lakh immunizations on Saturday, Uttar Pradesh became the only state after Maharashtra to have given more than three crore doses of coronavirus vaccine in the country. According to the data of CoWin portal, the figure of 3 crores was broken at around 2 pm. By the end of the day, 3.03 crore doses of the vaccine had been administered in the state. Maharashtra, on the other hand, has so far distributed 3.09 crore doses.
Terming it as a morale booster, the state health department officials credited the hard work put in by the field staff apart from campaigns like ‘Mission June’ and ‘cluster approach’ to promote immunization in the state.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath lauded the achievement but reminded the officials that there is no stopping until the entire eligible population is vaccinated. The state is now planning to conduct 10-12 lakh vaccinations daily from July.
Insiders claimed that if UP gets an adequate supply of vaccines, the state would be able to vaccinate the entire population by the end of August. For this, the state government has requested the central government to provide six crore doses to UP and according to sources talks are going on.
More than 7,500 vaccine sites have been set up in the state to kick-start the vaccination programme.

In terms of age details, more than 80.63 lakh doses have been provided to the population above 60, while 1.11 crore doses have been given in the age group of 45-60 years. 1.12 crore people in the age group of 18-44 years have been vaccinated.
So far 1.75 crore men and 1.28 crore women have taken the vaccine in the state. Over 90% people have taken Covishield while the rest have taken Covaxin. Now, some private companies are rolling out Sputnik V. For example, Medanta Medicity in Lucknow has started administering Sputnik.
Officials said that out of the total dose administered so far in the state, 0.005% post-vaccination adverse events have been reported.
In terms of districts, Lucknow (13.74 lakhs), Gautam Budh Nagar (11.50 lakhs), Ghaziabad (9.93 lakhs), Meerut (9.29 lakhs), Kanpur (8.7 lakhs), Gorakhpur (8.6 lakhs), Prayagraj (8.4 lakhs), Varanasi (8.08 lakhs) ) and Agra (8.0 lakh) are among the top scorers.
Chitrakoot (1.14 lakh), Kasganj (1.46 lakh), Lalitpur (1.5 lakh), Kaushambi (1.6 lakh), Eyah (1.7 lakh) Sant Kabir Nagar (1.73 lakh), Etah (1.77 lakh) Sravasti (1.82 lakh), Sambhal ( 1.83 lakh), Hamirpur (1.87 lakh), Mainpuri (1.91 lakh) and Sonbhadra (1.98 lakh) are on the lower side.
