White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Iran was a bad actor in the region, endorsing “extremely problematic behaviour”, but defended diplomatic access to Tehran as a way of denying it a nuclear weapon.
Biden’s critics say Iran cannot be trusted and point to the drone strikes as further evidence that Iran and its supporters will never acknowledge a US military presence in Iraq or Syria.
