This is Antony Blinken’s first visit to India after taking over as the US Secretary of State.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in Delhi at around 7.30 pm on Tuesday on a 2-day visit to India. On Wednesday, he will meet External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. In this meeting, Blinken can raise matters of human rights and Pegasus espionage in India.
Apart from this, the issue of maintaining pressure on Pakistan due to the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan and terror funding can also be discussed. This is Blinkin’s first visit to India after assuming office.
America worried about Pegasus case
Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Dean Thompson said on Friday that Blinkin would certainly raise the issue of espionage and human rights. The US is concerned about the government’s role in the Pegasus espionage case. Spying on citizens, critics of power and journalists is a violation of the law.
Visit of another important leader of the Biden administration
This will be the second visit by a high official of the Biden administration since coming to power in July. According to sources, this visit of Blinken will help in increasing mutual cooperation between the two countries in many areas such as trade, investment, healthcare, education, digital domain, innovation and security.
Talk on Quad Initiative
Both the ministers will also discuss the Quad Initiative related to the manufacture of the Corona Vaccine. There can also be talk of organizing a meeting of foreign ministers of the countries included in the Quad by the end of this year. Both countries will take this initiative forward, so that the vaccine made in India can be supplied to the Indo-Pacific region from the beginning of next year.
What is Quad Vaccine Initiative
India has decided to make a corona vaccine with the US, Australia and Japan. This initiative has been named Quad. Under this, the vaccine will be developed in America, manufactured in India, Japan and America will invest in it and Australia will provide logistics support in it.
