US saw Imran Khan’s so-called tongue, refutes allegations of interference

The United States of America (US) on Thursday said that allegations by Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan that foreign powers are aiming to destabilize his government are baseless. White House communications director Kate Bedingfield said there was no truth to that allegation.

This reaction from the US came after Pakistan PM Imran Khan said in his speech to Pakistanis – some deliberately trying to slip the tongue and saying that the US – that a ‘foreign power’ was angry at independent foreign policies . Designed by his government.

He said a ‘foreign power’ had sent him a threatening memo. He further alleged that the memorandum states that a no-confidence motion should be passed against Imran Khan in the National Assembly of Pakistan.

“On March 8 or earlier on March 7, the US sent us – not America but a foreign country sent us a message. Why am I talking about this, getting such a message for a free country is against me and the country,” Imran said in his speech. It states that if the no-confidence motion is passed, Pakistan will be pardoned, if not, there will be consequences,” Imran Khan said in his speech. He said that this letter has been sent to the Foreign Ministry of Pakistan.

“There is no truth in this allegation,” Bedingfield told reporters in the White House briefing room. Another US State Department official while talking to news agency ANI expressed a similar sentiment. “There is no truth in these allegations. We are closely monitoring developments in Pakistan. We respect and support Pakistan’s constitutional process and rule of law,” the official was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

Later, US State Department spokesman Ned Price said there was no basis for the allegations against the US. According to ANI, which quoted Pakistani news media, the letter was a word-by-word transcript of conversations between Pakistan and the other country’s diplomats sent to Pakistan’s foreign ministry.

Relations between Pakistan and the United States have long been strained, with some lawmakers angered by Pakistan’s role in helping the Taliban. Its alignment with China and Imran’s sudden visit to Russia during the initial phase of Russia’s war on Ukraine also prompted the US to express its concern about Pakistan’s behaviour.
