According to a report by the New York Post, Russell Gomes – a resident of South Boston – Virginia bought a scratch-off lottery ticket from a grocery store which changed his fortune. He visited the store to grab some groceries for his dinner, but returned back after becoming a millionaire.
According to the report, when Russell visited the store to buy some groceries he noticed various scratch-off literary tickets. To try his luck, he bought one ticket and decided to scratch after completing his shopping. He scratched off the ticket near the parking lot. He was left dumbstruck after seeing the price. He said “After buying the scratch-off ticket of Virginia Lottery’s Magnificent 7s scratcher, I went to the parking lot to scratch it. At first, I really couldn’t believe my eyes that I had won such a whopping amount. This is really a great feeling.” The report further stated that the man won the lottery amounting to around $500,000 (approximately Rs 4 crore).
Russell mentioned that he was himself shocked after seeing the amount. He said that he immediately started to plan his expenditure as he had many aspirations that he wanted to fulfil. He said, “I have never won such a whopping amount before. With the money first I will go on a vacation that I have been planning for a long time now. Later I will plan out my other expenses.”
The Virginia Lottery’s Magnificent 7s, the scratcher game Gomes took part in, has prizes ranging from $20 to $500,000. People from various parts of the country take part in this game in order to try their luck.
