US in close contact with top Latin American countries over resolving Venezuelan election crisis

 The United States is in close contact with Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia about a path forward for Venezuela after the country’s contested July 28 election, State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said on Monday.

U.S. officials said last week that electoral manipulation had stripped Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro’s claim of reelection victory of “any credibility,” and Washington left the door open to fresh sanctions on the OPEC nation.
