The readout of the meeting said Hicks and Doval said they looked forward to further progress in advancing the US-India defense partnership.

The Pentagon said that US Deputy Defense Secretary Dr. Kathleen Hicks met National Security Advisor Ajit Doval here and discussed the priorities of the US-India bilateral defense partnership.

It said the discussions also included strengthening policy and operational coordination in the Indo-Pacific region and increasing defense industrial cooperation between the two countries.

“They discussed a wide range of topics, including US-India defense cooperation and regional security issues,” the Indian embassy said in a tweet on Tuesday.

Hicks reiterated that building alliances and partnerships is a top priority for the department, and integral to the ongoing implementation of the US national defense strategy, Pentagon spokesman Eric Pahon said in a statement of the meeting.

Pahon said he thanked Doval for India’s leadership in the region and discussed ways to deepen coordination between the US and Indian militaries to address the rapidly evolving strategic environment of the region.

“The two also discussed opportunities to enhance bilateral defense industrial cooperation through innovative joint efforts between US and Indian firms that support India’s unique operational needs,” he said.

Hicks and Doval said they look forward to further progress in advancing the US-India defense partnership, the readout of the meeting said.
