Sania Mirza-Rohan Bopanna, Australian Open 2023 Mixed Doubles
Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna lost 6-7(2) 2-6 to the Brazilian pair of Luisa Stefani and Rafael Matos in the final of the Australian Open 2023 mixed doubles event on January 27. The Indian pair recorded 7-6 (5). ), 6–7(5), 10–6 over two-time Wimbledon champion pair and third-seeded American–British pair of Desirea Krawczyk and Neil Skupski in the semi-finals.
BBC documentary being blocked
The Center ordered YouTube to remove copies of BBC documentary titled ‘India: The Modi Question’ and also asked Twitter to remove posts related to the film. The BBC’s two-part documentary has come under fire for its unbalanced portrayal of the Gujarat riots and the Supreme Court’s decision on the matter- detaining the then chief minister Narendra Modi personally responsible for the violence
India-China border line
GOC-in-C, Eastern Command, Lt Gen RP Kalita has said that the current situation along the India-China border in Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh remains unpredictable due to the absence of demarcation of boundaries. The Eastern Command looks after the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim sectors. In 2017, China’s attempt to build a road on the Doklam Plateau resulted in the India-China standoff, which escalated tensions between the two neighbours.

Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathan breaks all records at the box office by becoming the biggest Bollywood Opener of all time. The much-awaited film, which hit the theaters on January 25, has now broken the box office record set by SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2 in just three days of its release. The film also features Deepika Padukone And John Abraham is in the lead. According to Pinkvilla, the film managed to earn over Rs 35 crore on Friday. With a three-day total of around Rs 160 crore, Pathan has reportedly surpassed the opening weekend records of Baahubali 2 (Rs 127 crore) and KGF 2 (Rs 140 crore).
Protest of local people in Joshimath
On January 27, a large number of people took to the streets of the cave-in-hit Joshimath to take part in a protest rally against the alleged slow pace of efforts to save the sinking city. The rally was called by the Joshimath Bachao Sangharsh Samiti to demand permanent rehabilitation and compensation for the affected families. The protesters shouted slogans after taking out a rally from Tapovan taxi stand, crossing the main road and gathering at Ved Vedang Maidan in Sinhadhar ward.
