Delhi-based architecture firm Architecture Discipline has used upcycled shipping containers to build Mohalla Clinics, which provide a compact, portable and sleek primary health solution for neighborhoods in Delhi. In the first phase of deployment, two clinics will be inaugurated in two urban settlements: Shakur Basti and Rani Bagh.
The clinics have been set up in collaboration with Tata Power-DDL for the Aam Aadmi Mohalla Clinics program of the Delhi Government.
Manufactured from salvaged shipping containers from various container yards in Delhi and Haryana, two 20-foot-long containers are joined together to form a single clinic that includes an examination room, a reception and waiting area, a pharmacy accessible from the outside and a washroom. Is. . It is fully equipped to assist with routine health check-ups, tests and medicine purchases.
The clinics are prefabricated and pre-installed with power and light fixtures, necessary interior finishes and furniture. Their compact size allows them to be easily transported to various locations and installed with minimal on-site construction.
The interior is oriented towards creating a clean and optimistic patient environment, with air conditioning and insulated walls that shield the visitors from the scorching heat of Delhi. Designed to be easy to maintain interior finishes like anti-microbial vinyl flooring and medical-grade stainless steel countertops.
Mohalla Clinics aspires to provide an affordable, space-efficient and high-quality model of health care in all the neighborhoods of Delhi, especially in dense residential clusters, which are space-hardened and have limited access to premium healthcare facilities. .
