UP Panchayat elections: BJP sweeps over 500 blocks

Lucknow: Counting of votes for 476 posts of block panchayat chiefs in Uttar Pradesh is over and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won all seats in 8 blocks in Lucknow and Kannauj. The saffron party also won six out of eight seats in Moradabad and three out of six in Bhadohi.

In Sultanpur region, BJP got 15 out of 19 seats, while Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party (SP) won three seats. The ruling party in Uttar Pradesh also won 14 seats in Agra.

In Hardoi block, the ruling party got 14 out of 19 seats, while the SP managed to capture only one seat. BJP won eight out of nine seats in Muzaffarnagar, while the rest was won by RLD.

The ruling party got 12 out of 22 seats in Azamgarh block, while the SP won only seven seats and three independents bagged one seat each.

BJP Panchayat Poll Tally So Far

So far the results of 650 block panchayat elections have been declared, of which the BJP has won over 550 and the party has won 335 unopposed. The SP has been able to win only in 71 blocks, while other parties and independent candidates have won 80 seats.

Mangal Violence in UP Panchayat Elections

According to reports, there were reports of fierce clashes in more than 15 districts during the elections on Saturday. A UP Police official said that incidents of violence and clashes were reported from 17 districts including Amethi, Ballia, Siddharth Nagar, Kanpur, Mau, Hamirpur, Amroha, Lucknow, Sultanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Aligarh, Firozabad, Unnao, Pratapgarh, Etawah, Kanpur. have come. Countryside and Chandauli.

In Etawah district, there were reports of stone pelting, cops allegedly slapping, candidates carrying bombs. A journalist was also allegedly beaten up in Unnao district who had gone to report from a polling station.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath’s reaction on violence

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed the officials to make tight security arrangements in every block of counting of votes.

In a statement issued here, Adityanath said there should be a system in which winning and losing candidates can be taken to their homes under police protection.

Meanwhile, opposition parties including the SP, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Congress have accused the ruling BJP of damaging democracy in the elections and even alleged “absolute disrespect” towards women during the election process. He attacked her to show off.
