UP Minister calls Swami Prasad Maurya ‘Ravan’ Over Ramcharitmanas Remarks

Budaun: Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Minister Gulab Devi on Thursday called Samajwadi Party leader Swami Prasad Maurya, the demon king ‘Ravana’, for demanding a ban on a part of Shri Ramcharitmanas. The minister made the remarks at a press conference while visiting centers for UP board exams. Gulab Devi said, “Ravana also did not believe in Ramcharitmanas, but Ravana had Ram in his heart. He went to heaven but what was his condition before that?”

“Ramcharitmanas is a book full of qualities of humanity. It is a question of our faith.” They are criticizing Ramcharitmanas to polish their politics.”

Swami Prasad Maurya, a member of the Legislative Council and a prominent OBC face of the Samajwadi Party, in a statement last month sought a ban on a couplet from Shri Ramcharitmanas, terming it “derogatory” to Dalits and women.

Referring to the incident in Kanpur Dehat where a woman and her daughter set themselves ablaze during an anti-encroachment drive, the minister said, “It was heart-wrenching.” “There should be no politics on this. There should be sympathy for the survivors of the victim’s family. The government should give them compensation. Action is being taken against the guilty,” he added.

Despite criticism of his remarks, Maurya stood firm and said, “I will continue to oppose conspiracies to insult tribals, Dalits, backward and women in the name of religion. Just as an elephant is unperturbed by barking dogs and does not obey its nature.” Changes.” Path, I too will not change my stand towards getting respect for them (tribals, dalits, backward and women).” She was later appointed general secretary of the Samajwadi Party, which came under sharp attack from the BJP.

Recently, a video of a scuffle between supporters of Ayodhya saint Mahant Raju Das and Samajwadi Party leader Swami Maurya in a five-star hotel in Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow surfaced on social media.

The viral video shows supporters of Samajwadi Party leader and Hanuman Garhi Mahant Raju Das of Ayodhya, jostling and fighting during an event organized by a private TV news channel.
