Officials said that the final decision in this regard will be taken in the board meeting to be held in July.

The Uttar Pradesh Madrassa Education Board is considering using intermediate colleges as examination centers instead of madrassas, officials said on Monday.

Officials said that a final decision in this regard will be taken in the board meeting to be held in July.

The board is considering making government intermediate colleges as examination centers instead of madrassas from the next session. A final decision in this regard will be taken in the board meeting to be held in July. Some intermediate colleges have been made examination centers on a trial basis, Qamar Ali, a member of the Madrassa Board and in-charge of the examination control room (set up in Lucknow), told PTI.

He said that till now examinations were held only in madrasas.

“However, it was observed that there were problems of internet connectivity and other practical difficulties. Apart from this, the principals and managers of madrassas tried to shirk their responsibility by citing lack of resources. Intermediate colleges cannot escape from not being examination centers. With this, the aim of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to conduct cheating free examination will also be fulfilled.

Ali said that from the next session all the examination centers in the district would be linked with a control room supervised by minority welfare officers.

These control rooms will be connected to the Madrasa Board’s control room and in case of any disturbance, the Minority Welfare Officer will be held accountable.

At present, there are 539 examination centers where Madarsa Board examinations are conducted.

“Monitoring of examinations at all centers at the same time is not possible, and from next year it will be conducted division-wise. This will help in identifying anomalies easily,” he said.

He said that during the examinations held on Monday in Lucknow, Kannauj, Aligarh, Azamgarh, Mau and Ambedkar Nagar, some deficiencies were found as there was no seating arrangement for the examinees and those on duty were allegedly absent from duty.

There are 16,531 madrassas registered with the Uttar Pradesh Madrassa Education Board in the state. Of these, 558 are government aided.
