The Election Commission on Saturday issued a notice to the Samajwadi Party for holding a public meeting “in the name of virtual rally” at its Lucknow office in violation of the COVID-19 norms. Referring to Friday’s incident in Uttar Pradesh, the notice said that after considering the material available in the matter and the extant directions, the Election Commission has given an opportunity to the party to clarify its stand regarding the “violation”. Has decided.

The notice to the SP General Secretary read, “Your clarification will reach the Commission within 24 hours of the receipt of this notice, failing which the Commission will take an appropriate decision in the matter.” Held in seven phases from 10 February to 7 March.
