UP Elections: Another list released by SP, has fielded Pooja Shukla from Lucknow North; Suspense remains over Sarojini Nagar seat

Samajwadi Party has released another list of candidates including the much awaited candidates for the assembly seats of Lucknow except Sarojini Nagar assembly seat. A total of 10 candidates have been announced in the list, out of which six are for the assembly seats of Lucknow. There is suspense in Sarojini Nagar assembly seat where both SP and BJP have not yet announced candidates while the last date for nomination for Lucknow assembly seats is February 3, voting will be held on February 23 in the fourth phase of these seats. ,

Putting an end to the speculation about the candidature of Rita Bahuguna Joshi’s son Mayank Joshi from the SP on this seat, the SP has fielded Raju Gandhi from Lucknow Cantonment. SP spokesperson Anurag Bhadauria has been fielded from Lucknow East while former SP MLA SP Gomti Yadav has once again been fielded from Bakshi Ka Talab. The SP has given ticket to student leader Pooja Shukla from Lucknow North, who came into the limelight when she was sent to jail for showing black flags to CM Yogi Adityanath.

This time SP has gambled on Armaan Khan from Lucknow West instead of its former MLA Rehan Naeem. Armaan Khan had earlier contested on a BSP ticket; However, he switched to SP after the 2017 elections. Former SP MLA Ravidas Mehrotra has once again been fielded from Lucknow Central. Munna Alvi from Unnao’s Bangarmau seat, Shyam Sundar Bharti from Rae Bareli’s Bachhrawan seat, Tahir Khan from Isauli and Samajwadi Party have fielded Vishamber Yadav from Baberu.

Voting in Uttar Pradesh will be held in seven phases on February 10 with 58 seats in 11 districts in the western part of the state. In the second phase, on February 14, voting will be held in 55 seats of the state. In Uttar Pradesh, in the third phase, voting will be held on 59 seats, 60 seats in the fourth phase on 23 February, 60 seats in the fifth phase on 27 February, 57 seats in the sixth phase on 3 March and 54 seats. Phase 7 on March. Counting of votes will be done on March 10.

In the 2017 assembly elections, the NDA alliance got a total of 325 seats out of 403 in the UP assembly. Of these, BJP alone won 312 seats, while the other two parties of the NDA alliance, Apna Dal (S) won 9 out of 11 seats and OP Rajbhar’s Bharatiya Suheldev Samaj Party won 4 out of 8 seats. On the other hand, the SP and Congress alliance had won only 54 seats. Congress could win only 7 seats. Apart from this, the Samajwadi Party could win only 47 seats. At the same time, BSP had won 19 seats. One seat went to RLD and four seats went to the account of others.
